hovden riverbath – winner

Hovden riverbath is a unique bathing destination inspired by the river Otra’s dams for hydropower. It is a composition of five bath houses with sculptural roof shapes inspired by the surrounding mountains and carefully inscribed in nature.

The bathing experience is formed as a poetic landscape of indoor and outdoor pools with small waterfalls, unique pools and a series of infinity pools stretching from entrance to the wild water of the Otra river. The design is a celebration of the many dams along the Otra, which provide renewable green energy and form a scenographic series of lakes along the Otra. 

Hovden riverbath is seamlessly integrated with the existing water park creating a united destination with a spectacular view of the mountains and landscape. The new Hovden riverbath becomes a “must see” experience and destination for visitors of all ages – both summer and winter.
